Advance Portland involved more than a year of robust analyses and deep community engagement.

The team focused on the economic fundamentals and a growth strategy that centers equity and climate action. It also used an economic analysis of our Central City and neighborhood commercial districts.

A broad range of individuals and organizations participated in interviews and focus groups to inform the plan.

Advance Portland will not solve all the urgent challenges facing Portland. It focuses on economic growth and development. It calls for businesses to expand and create jobs. It calls for people receiving education to access employment. Its actions aim to generate income and wealth to support homeownership and entrepreneurship. It is a strategy to create demand for goods, services, and amenities and to strengthen community connections.
